Gabriela worked with me to organize an ongoing Costa Rica Business
Study Abroad program for our university that was linked to two other
universities. She managed a large group expertly. Our site visits and
excursions were perfectly organized and her support staff was very
professional and knowledgable. I have no hesitation highly recomending
Gabriela to anyone wishing to organize a group excursion to
Costa Rica, particularly one involving study abroad or executive
This experience was awesome and I don't think I
could have been on the trip with a better group of
people. We really bonded as a group and got to know
each other really well. Words really can't express
everything that I took away from this trip, mostly
because it was just so much, but also because it was
very much a "you just had to be there" trip. Overall,
it was a great experience and I wouldn't trade it for
anything. I feel like this is one of the last times
I can truly thank everyone that made this trip happen:
of course our tour guides (Gabby, Juan Carlos, and
especially Sergio) for making the entire trip happen,
the teachers from Nicholls and Southeastern for bringing
their groups and helping put the program, together, and of
course our trip mama for just being her and really opening
up to all our personalities.
This trip has undoubtedly been one of the best trips of my life. I have met so many amazing people on this trip, I can't imagine my life without them. I have grown so much as a person because of this and I must thank my family and friends for their support. Our trip through Costa Rica was anything but easy and smooth. We hit some bumps and got a few bruises (well, I certainly did) but the one mark that will always stay is the one each person left on my heart.
When reflecting back on my time in Costa Rica I think nothing but good stuff! I love the study abroad program because while you are at your city everyone becomes family. It is very rare to be able to make new friendships while away in another city and experiencing things together you won’t forget. Different people from different backgrounds come together and really interact with people you normally wouldn’t. To me, it feels like a special bond is formed. I loved seeing monkeys in trees, hopping from rock to rock while on a beach, almost stepping on an iguana, visiting Costa Rica’s government buildings. The list goes on.
It is our final day here in Costa Rica and as I walk the beach for the last time I feel strange. The trip in the end with as much fun as I have had does not seem real. It is as if I had fallen asleep and am now waking from an amazing dream. We toured a volcano, tasted some of the finest coffee in the world, and attended lectures on Costa Ricas booming economy from being strictly agriculture to where it is today. I would like to personally thank all of our guides, Nicholls, Southeastern, and the shortbus superheroes (Sergio, Dr. Lanier, Drew, Patrick, Mikela, Chris, Betty, Madeline, Bean, Anna, Sue, Devin, Jen, Ryan, and Brooke) for making this trip one to remember.
Thinking back about what this trip has left me it is unbelievable how much can be achieved in so little time. The perspective of a single small country about environmental sustainability and their goal on achieving the label of being the 1st green country in the world is remarkable. Among the lectures and the experience we shared in the country we have to mention the people of Costa Rica, we have to give a very special thank you to our tour guides, Juan Carlos, Gabriela and specially Sergio who was almost as our personal tour guide.
I don't even know where to begin. This trip was so enlightening and I got way more out of it than I remotely expected. I learned so much about Costa Rica, but what still blows my mind is that amazing friendships that were born on this trip. This trip could not have come at a better time or had a better outcome. Everything was perfect! I know we will all keep in touch and have lifelong friendships; I would not change a single thing about this trip.”
I was so excited when I heard about the opportunity to go on the trip. I absolutely love traveling and I hope to travel to many places in my life! Although I didn't see any monkeys or crocodiles, I had a wonderful trip to Costa Rica. This was my first trip out of the country where I didn't know anyone on my journey so I wasn't quite sure what to expect but everyone was great and everyone added their own spark to the trip. The short bus was so much fun and this trip will be one that I will remember forever! Thanks to everyone who followed my journey through my blog! I hope that you were able to learn about Costa Rica and that you will get to take a journey to the country for yourself very soon! Pura Vida
I would like to thank our tour guides from Visit Costa Rica: Gabriela, Juan Carlos, and Sergio for their hard work and dedication. They truly made this trip into a wonderful experience for all of us. The time and effort that went into planning and coordinating the activities and travel must have been excruciating and also the time away from their families must have been a burden. I would recommend them to anyone who plans to visit Costa Rica. The other part of the trip that I did not plan on was the friendships that I made during our 10 days abroad. I didn’t know anyone going into the trip, but I feel like I came out with a second family (affectionately called the Shortbus Superheroes with our fearless leaders Dr. Patricia and Sergio)! This was an amazing experience/journey that I will never forget.
This trip was one of the best experiences of my life! I've never been on a trip where I've done so many things. Volcano, waterfalls, orchid garden, coffee plantation, wind farm, Congress, butterfly farm, sugar cane mill, beach, zip lining, tubing, horseback riding, etc, etc. You name it, we did it. I saw and experienced things I never have before. This trip taught me a lot about myself. It made me realize that I want to get out and do MORE! I want to see more things instead of staying in my safe little town of Lafayette. All in all it was a memorable trip and I hope to have many more like it in the future!! Pura vida!
Well I definitely learned ALOT! Costa Rica was a great experience that I will never forget. I drank the best coffee in the world, I visited nice beaches, I got to see sustainability first hand, I did so much! One of the main things I learned about was the Pura Vida culture of Costa Rica. They care alot about recycling, they care alot about not leaving a carbon footprint, talk about the pure life! I also learned how to really treasure memories, and how much something like that vacation can mean to me. I could not have had a better vacation, this tops out all the vacations I have ever been to. The people, the memories, the views, I shall never forget them.
This trip was literally the greatest experience I have ever had. The long day were packed with things to do and places to visit. The lectures were filled with useful information about the country of Costa Rica from Economics, to business, to sustainability, to government, to tourism, to agriculture, and anywhere in-between. In just a few day, our crew "The UL Short Bus Super Heroes" became the best of friends. We spent all day, every day together and learned a lot about ourselves along the way as well.
So how do I reflect on the 10 days we spent in this beautiful country? I went to Costa Rica with no expectations excepting the desire to escape. I could never have known that this trip was not only just what I needed, but that it would touch my heart and renew my soul. It was a combination of the experiences, the beauty of the nature, and, more than anything else, the people. I fell in love with the Costa Ricans, the folks who guided us through our journey (Gabriella, Juan Carlos, and Sergio), and my students. Words cannot express my thanks to everyone who had a part in my experience. I now conclude this adventure with a new understanding that most often the best things in life are those that are unexpected. We just have to keep our hearts and minds open to them.
